Joeri Willems

Joeri Willems has been active in Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing since 2003. Joeri graduated in 2001 as an Industrial Engineer in ICT & Electronics at Groep T (KU Leuven University) and complemented this with a specialization in Business Economics (2002).

Before joining element61, Joeri held Business Intelligence roles at Estée Lauder and DHL Aviation & DHL Express, including BI Product Manager for DHL Aviation's BI front-end applications. There he gained deep knowledge of report design, framework design, system administration and database modeling, and was responsible for change management and the rollout of new releases and reporting projects.

He has in-depth expertise across the IBM Cognos Analytics suite, as well as in data quality, database design and data warehousing (Oracle, SQL). He also developed several JavaScript add-ons for IBM Cognos to extend its reporting functionality, including sending invoices directly from reports.

Joeri enjoys being the link between business users and IT. He makes sure reports and dashboards are useful, used, efficient and correct, so they genuinely add value to the business. He also focuses on automation, easy management and the visual quality of reports.

Joeri joined element61 in 2018. For many years, he was a key consultant for our IBM Cognos Analytics clients, in server installation, configuration, creating reporting assets and roll out upgrades. He has built automated, well-structured and visually appealing reporting solutions for our clients, work that has been recognized with internal innovation awards.

Alongside his IBM Cognos Analytics and data visualization expertise, Joeri holds certifications and has hands-on experience building solutions in Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft Power BI.

Data Governance is a natural extension of Joeri's Data Quality background. He has given the Master Data and Data Quality trainings in the element61 Academy and has worked with Ataccama ONE, covering Reference Data Management, Master Data Management, Data Cataloging and Data Quality. He is also trained and experienced in other Data Governance tools such as Microsoft Purview and Profisee.

Beyond the tool expertise, he supports organizations in reviewing their business processes, Master Data systems and Data Governance roles, identifying improvements and designing and implementing better workflows.

Joeri is known for getting the most out of software solutions: improving system performance, implementing automation and templated structures, making full use of a product's customization options, and keeping a clear focus on what matters, in both functionality and aesthetics.
